INTERIOR DESIGN OF QUOIN ROCK WINERY

One of the most significant things in a process of interior space creation is to find the way how to connect your surroundings with the internal space of a building... And symbolism becomes a driving force behind the process.

The Winery is surrounded with unique landscapes and breath-taking views of the vineyards and forests. So, the main idea was to complement the landscapes with symbols of the Circle of Life in the internal spaces of the Winery and Restaurant.

Reception area

Water is an essential element in interior design. It makes architecture come alive, brings dynamic movements, and pushes interior spaces to “breathe”.

We created ponds at the main entrance to the Winery that flow from the parking area outside and continues-on inside the reception area. The reflection of natural light in the water creates movement and “life” on the walls.

In the centre of the reception area we installed a 5,5 metre bronze sculpture of a Vine surrounded with water streams. The artwork was heralded the “Heart of Quoin Rock”.

Gåte restaurant

The tasting room space at Quoin Rock was transformed into a fine dining restaurant — Gåte. Our main task was to create the most comfortable space for a client to enjoy a fine dining experience for a durataion of 2,5-4 hours.

So, only natural materials and light colours have been used in the restaurant interior. The idea was to keep it as light as possible.

Two existing brick walls have been removed with the purpose to open internal space to the outside natural surrounding — we have decided to “bring the landscape” inside the restaurant. Symbols of the vine production have been used as the core in Gåte's interior design.

The custom made oak bar counter became the central focus point of the restaurant. The prototype of the bar counter was a French oak barrel. Solid wood banded lights above the Bar counter brings dynamic to the composition. It shows a fermentation process in a barrel — how the wine is circulating inside the barrel.

Three columns in the restaurant space are framed with solid wood oak panel — conceptualised old vines.

All restaurant furniture was designed by us — dining chairs, tables and the big leather bench along the wall — in order to create the most comfortable space and to finish the interior design with each small element that complements the main concept of the Gate restaurant interior design.

Venue Hall

The interior design of the Venue Hall at Quoin Rock Winery was based on an idea to combine the existing industrial style of the warehouse with modern elements of the public spaces. The eclecticism was chosen as an essential idea in the interior design process.

The north-eastern brick wall was removed and transformed into a glazed window system, supplied by Reynaers Aluminium.

For the floor cladding we used Brazilian marble slabs (Noble grey natural cream colour).
