The Inspiration

We were inspired by the essence & beauty of the Cape Winelands and the rich heritage of wine production here in the Western Cape. Our dream was to create a space that captures this essence & expresses it in Gauteng.

The Interior Space

Experience an ambience of Stellenbosch Vineyards as you look up to see Cabernet Sauvignon leaves filling the sky of Qbar interiors. You will see features like a hand sketch of Simonsberg mountain, by Yuliya Gaiduk, printed at big scale on the fixed glass panel above the main entrance.

A brass finished pillar representing the strength & heritage of our Vine’s & their branches, and a Cabernet Sauvignon Leaf wall panel designed to illuminate the space at night.

A combination of beautiful timber and brass finishes, with green marble and smoke mirrors completing the background. We applied attention to every detail. Every small piece of art & decor was a key idea behind the overal design & experience.

Central focus in restaurant space – Pivot screens made of fine brass material - Illuminating the visual of our Cabernet Sauvignon Leaf.

A Center piece in Qbar Johannesburg. Transformed & re-imagined pillar evolving from dark bronze colours to greens. A gradient that showcases the process & art of winemaking and the seasons we endure to make every harvest special.

The Service Space

An open kitchen design, where Head Chef Brenden creates a magical food experience. Subtly hidden behind the four pivot screens, cladded with the brass panels, with laser cut Cabernet Sauvignon leaf, created by Charles Haupt (Bronze age studio).

The L-shape bar counter`s front façade is cladded with the brass and two layers of green marble. It shows a 3D silhouette of Simonsberg mountain slopes with spacious logo of Quoin Rock on the edge."
